Scholarship Program

Eligibility

High School graduating seniors with intentions to further their education at a college or university and seeking a business-related degree. Student must attend a high school in the BankOnBuffalo market area including Niagara Falls, Williamsville, Buffalo and Orchard Park. Dependents of Directors or Officers of BankOnBuffalo are not eligible to apply.

Essay Theme

New inventions appear almost daily to meet the ever-changing needs of our society. Some of these inventions are useful and others might not have the same impact. Maybe something was created that is amazing, but had an outcome that was not anticipated. What one invention would you uninvent if you could, and why?

Essay Requirements

  • A minimum of 300 words

  • Typed and double-spaced

  • Participant name and/or family names should not appear on the essay

Submission Requirements

Along with the essay, applicants should provide:

  • A brief summary of participation in community and school activities

  • Two letters of recommendation from present or past educators

  •   Two non-family references that can provide personal insight into the applicant

Ways to Submit

  • Complete the following application and turn into your high school’s guidance office along with essay and letters of recommendation by April 15, 2020. Please feel free to email the submissions or mail to: BankOnBuffalo, Attn: Mike Anderson, 535 Washington Street, Suite 707 Buffalo, NY 14203.

  • OR complete the online application below by 11:59 p.m. April 19, 2020.

Judging

Essays will be judged on originality and how well ideas are expressed. Contributions to both school and community will be considered, as well as recommendations and reference checks.

Deadlines

Entry forms, essays, and letters of recommendation must be received by April 19, 2020. Winners will be announced on May 1, 2020.
